Hyderabad, Monday: Megastar Chiranjeevi has stepped in to mediate the ongoing strike by film workers, who have been demanding wage hikes for the past 15 days. On Monday, he held a special meeting with members of the Film Workers’ Federation and interacted with each union separately to understand their concerns in detail.
A crucial meeting between the Film Chamber of Commerce and the Film Workers’ Federation is scheduled for Tuesday evening.
Federation President’s Statement
Speaking to the media after the meeting with Chiranjeevi, Federation President Anil said:
- Workers have been on strike for the last 15 days seeking fair wages.
- Chiranjeevi personally invited union leaders for discussions.
- A total of 72 representatives from 24 different departments participated in the talks.
Anil explained that they raised concerns with Chiranjeevi about producers not listening to their demands and even blaming the workers instead. He stated that producers have been insisting on certain rules that are impractical and difficult to implement.
“We want both workers and producers to benefit, but if we accept the two conditions laid down by producers, it will cause losses to workers. We conveyed this matter to Chiranjeevi,” Anil said.
Chiranjeevi’s Assurance
According to Anil, Chiranjeevi assured them by saying: “Whenever you face a problem, feel free to approach me.” The Federation has now called for a General Body Meeting on Tuesday, and as the Film Chamber has also extended an invitation for discussions, workers have temporarily suspended their protest activities.
Anil expressed hope that their long-standing demand for revised wages would be fulfilled following these talks.
