Hollywood Icons Reunite: Scorsese, De Niro & DiCaprio in ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ Trailer
Renowned director Martin Scorsese reteams with actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro for the upcoming Western epic “Killers of the Flower Moon.” Based on the best-selling nonfiction book by David Grann from 2017, this eagerly awaited movie explores the Osage Murders and the founding of the FBI. According to ‘Variety’, the movie’s trailer has been released.
The story, which takes place in 1920s Oklahoma, focuses on a string of homicides committed by members of the Osage Nation that have something to do with oil rights. It demonstrates the newly established FBI’s unwavering commitment to pursuing justice in their examination of these horrible crimes. Jesse Plemons, who was most recently recognised for his performance in “The Power of the Dog,” as well as Lily Gladstone, who “Variety” called “the breakout talent from “Certain Women,” are joining the cast.
For DiCaprio and De Niro, working together on ‘Killers of the Flower Moon‘ is a historic event because it is their first feature-length project since their participation in Michael Caton-Jones’ 1993 movie ‘This Boy’s Life. Notably, both performers played fictionalised versions of themselves in Scorsese’s short film “The Audition,” according to “Variety.”
In movies like Scorsese’s “Taxi Driver,” “Cape Fear,” and “Raging Bull,” De Niro, who is known for giving strong performances, garnered Oscar nods for best actor. He ultimately won the coveted prize for the latter role. Through his work with Scorsese, DiCaprio has also received some Oscar attention, with nominations for “The Aviator” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.” As noted by ‘Variety’, all three of these great people finally share the screen in ‘Flower Moon’.
In “Flower Moon,” Leonardo DiCaprio plays Ernest Burkhart, the nephew of a prominent local rancher played by Robert De Niro. Burkhart becomes embroiled in the compelling web of the Osage Nation killings as the plot develops. His character is wed to Lily Gladstone’s portrayal of an Indigenous woman. Plemons also plays Tom White, the principal FBI agent tasked with discovering the cause of the murders, according to “Variety.”
DiCaprio was originally cast as the FBI agent in “Flower Moon,” but he made the intriguing decision to rewrite the script and switch roles, choosing to play the morally grey character of Ernest instead.
