Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon sentenced to 4 months jail
Steve Bannon, a former strategist to Donald Trump, was given a four-month prison term and fined $6,500 (£5,830) for refusing to cooperate with the congressional committee looking into the Capitol disturbance last year.
Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon’s refusal to appear before Congress and failure to turn over requested papers led to his conviction for two counts of contempt of Congress in July.
The 68-year-old, who claims he did nothing wrong, will likely appeal his verdict.
Bannon will be released in the meantime until any challenges to the sentence are adjudicated, according to Judge Carl Nichols.
