World War II Film “Comandante” Trailer Released, Set to Open Venice Film Festival

The new trailer for the WWII movie “Comandante” is out. The film features Italian actor Pierfrancesco Favino. He portrays submarine captain Salvatore Todaro. The movie will open the Venice International Film Festival. It replaces “Challengers” which was postponed until spring 2024 due to Hollywood strikes.

In the movie Salvatore Todaro captains a unique submarine. His crew is ready for battle. They have a steel-plated submarine. They have daggers for close quarters combat. The film relates the true story of Todaro. He saved 26 Belgian sailors during the war.

Director Edoardo De Angelis led production. Collaborating with him on the script was Sandro Veronesi. The films other stars include Johan Heldenbergh. Massimiliano Rossi is also in it. Other cast members are Johannes Wirix. Silvia D’Amico is another. Paolo Bonacelli also features. Wise Pictures teamed up with Rai Cinema to produce the movie.
