In order to get to the T20 World Cup final against Pakistan, England thrashed India by 10 wickets on Thursday thanks to the magnificent unbeaten half-centuries of Alex Hales and Jos Buttler.
With four overs remaining in the second semi-final in Adelaide, Hales struck seven sixes in his 86 and Buttler hit three in a mesmerising batting display to easily advance to Sunday’s final in Melbourne.
India reached 168-6 thanks to Hardik Pandya’s 33-ball 63, while England, chasing their second T20 championship after their 2010 triumph, found the total lacking in the face of an outstanding opening duo.
After a convincing victory, England will now play Pakistan in the tournament’s championship match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, exactly 30 years after the two countries squared off in that match’s 1992 ODI World Cup final.
India’s batsmen were out of alignment and did not pose a threat to the opening duo of Hales and Buttler, who put them under pressure right away.
They were also more than careless on the field, which allowed England to completely outplay them and dominate the game in every facet.
