It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of legendary musician Elvis Presley. Lisa Marie passed away at the age of 54 in a Los Angeles hospital, as confirmed by her representative to Variety.

A statement from the Presley family reads, “Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie.”

Lisa Marie’s life was filled with turmoil, including her parents’ divorce at the age of five, her father’s untimely death at age 9, and a period of drug use before she embraced Scientology.

Despite these challenges, she forged a successful career as a singer-songwriter, releasing her first album “To Whom It May Concern” in 2003 which featured the hit song “Lights Out” and was certified gold. Her second album “Now What” was released in 2005 and both albums were released by Capitol Records and debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard 200.

In addition to her music career, Lisa Marie also made appearances in Michael Jackson’s “You Are Not Alone” music video in 1995 and will be portrayed by actress Emily Mitchell in the upcoming film “Priscilla,” which is based on her mother’s memoir “Elvis and Me.”

Lisa Marie is survived by her mother, Priscilla Presley, her three daughters and a half-brother, Navarone Garibaldi.
